Sight Word Story

I wrote this sight word story trying to use as many words from the Pre-Kindergarten Wordlist that I could. You will find a lot of words and phrases are repeated in this story.

This is done so your child becomes familiar with the sight words as they would be seen in print and this helps to increase thier fluency as they improve their reading skills.

Also, after you've been working with these high frequency words, imagine your child's excitement when they can read the words in a story!

My hope for this sight word story is that you will share it with your child or that it might inspire you to write a sight word story that you and your child can enjoy together!

Clyde's Nose

One day there was a sad clown, who had lost his nose. As he walked to town, he wondered where he could buy a new red nose.

Then he saw a green snake, and Clyde Clown asked the snake, “Do you know where I can go to buy a new red nose? “

Sally Snake said, “No, I don’t and why does it have to be a red nose, I would rather have a green nose to match my skin!”

“A clown with a green nose, said Clyde, that wouldn’t be funny, clowns always have a red nose! I’ll just go on to town and find a store to buy a new red nose!” Clyde went on his way.

Not to far ahead, Clyde saw a dog wearing a blue hat. He caught up with the dog and said,” Hi, I’m Clyde Clown, would you like to come to town with me while I find a store to buy new red nose?”

Dan Dog replied, “Hi, I’m Dan and I’ll come to town with you while you shop for a nose. Does your nose have to be red? I think a blue nose would be nice and it would match my hat.”

“A clown with a blue nose, said Clyde, that wouldn’t be funny, clowns always have a red nose. I would still like it if you came with me to town.” he said to Dan.

The two friends went into town and found Clown Mart. Dan waited outside and took a short nap while Clyde went inside to buy his new red nose.

When he came out, Clyde had on his new red nose and had a bag. “What’s in the bag?” asked Dan “Well, said Clyde, while I was in the store, there was a big sale on all kinds of noses, so I got a green nose, a blue nose and a yellow nose, too!”

After Dan stopped laughing, he reminded Clyde he had said that a clown wouldn’t be funny if he wore any other color nose but red.

Then Clyde said, “I know, but after talking with you and Sally Snake, I wanted to try a nose of a different color!”
