Sight Word Stories
Sight Word Stories are the next step now that you and your child have been working with the sight words and they can recognize them on flashcards.
If you don't think you're up for a full story, then you can start with some sentences or poems. In either case, just print out sentences using the words from the list. You can also use words that have the same word ending as words on the list, such as in and thin.
In addition to sentences, you can also make up silly poems and work your way up to a story. What's important at this step is that you and your child are working together on this. You can make a special journal for this activity, and just imagine the possibilities!
For your next trip to the library or book store, look for books labeled as Easy Readers -- a lot of those are written with sight words.

Clyde's Nose
I have written a story using words from the Pre-Kindergarten Wordlist. It is about Clyde Clown and his search for a new nose.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading it with your child. I’ll also be attempting some poetry as I write them I'll add more to the site, so check often for new items.
Even if this story is below your child's grade level, it could help them increase their reading fluency by building their confidence in what they can read.

Also, if you wrote a story or poem you would like to share, I’ll be glad to add it to the site.
