I have decided to have this page devoted to helpful links, because in doing research for my site, I have so many other sites that I want to share with you.

Education Resources Information Center
This link is for those seeking information abou the reading process. At ERIC, you will find research about reading and a lot of other subjects.
U. S Department of Education
This link is for parents, teachers, and those who home school. There are all kinds of pamphlets about reading and other subjects that you can request from this site and they will mail them to you for FREE. I found pamphlets about reading from Pre-K to Third grade level with checklists for parents, also a poster about how Dads can help their children with reading.
Federal Citizen Infomation Center
This is another great site to request useful information form your government. They have many catergories of free publications to chiise from, so be sure to check it out!
The Official Kid's Portal for the U. S. Government
This link to the kids.gov site has sections based on grade levels and a section for educators. It is a fun way to learn about the U. S. Government.
Links for Hearing and Vision Challenges
Alexander Graham Bell Association
This is for parents of children with hearing problems. At this site, parents will find useful information with which to help thier children. There is also a grant program to help with expenses of theraoy and hearing aids.
National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders
At this site you will find information on how to protect your child's hearing and other health issues. There are also free publications to send for and activities to enjoy.
New Eyes for the Needy
This helpful link is for those who need to apply for a voucher for eyeglasses for their children. You can also find out how to donate your old glasses to someone who needs them.
Sight for Students
Use this link to go to Sight for Students, which is a VSP charity that provides free vision exams and glasses to low-income, uninsured children. The program operates nationally through a network of community partners who identify children in need and VSP network doctors who provide the eyecare services.
Vision USA
This site is sponsered by the American Optometric Association. This is another site where you can apply for a voucher to help cover the cost of eyeglasses.
Optometrist Advice
At this site, you'll be able to read more about children's vision and also find a checklist of signs of a vision problem.

This site is sponsered by Sylan Learning Centers. At this site, your child can take quizzes about the books they have read, earn points and win prizes. There are also some free bookmarks and awards they can print out and color.
